2016 Healthy Grading & Assessment Summit Recap
The first annual Healthy Grading & Assessment Summit was a huge success. There was a whole day of powerful learning, insightful questioning, and meaningful contributions. Aric and Megan are very grateful to everyone who attended and helped us all grow as educators to foster and flower healthy grading practices for our learners. Below are pictures from the day and all of the tweets from our time together from the hashtag #sblmi. In addition, and without our prompting in any way, the participants decided that they wanted to contribute financially to reflect the powerful learning that happened that day. Therefore, begrudgingly, we created a crowd sourcing site where participants can contribute, if they choose. In no way is this asking for funds, as none are expected; it is just fulfilling the wishes of the participants in the day. The link to contribute is here:

Healthy Grading & Assessment SummitAre you questioning your current or recent grading or assessment practices? Have you ever wanted to make changes and needed someone to bounce ideas off of? Are you unsure how implementing standards based learning or a proficiency scale for your assessments would work in your classroom? Do you want to be sure your students’ final grades accurately reflect proficiency? Have you already made positive changes and want to share the outcomes or explore future steps? We are all at different places on the path, but we all heading in the same direction: toward improving the learning experiences of our students.
On Saturday, September 17th, 2016, STEM and Flower Learning Consultants, Aric Foster and Megan Moran, will be hosting a day of professional development for all educators interested in analyzing their grading and assessment practices. This free event will be held at Armada High School in Armada, Michigan, located a less than an hour north of Detroit. Regardless of your experience in the classroom, as an administrator, or as a support staff member, your voice is valuable. The day will include whole group and smaller breakout sessions to gather, share, debate, and foster healthy grading and assessment practices. Sessions will be differentiated based on your experience with standards based learning as well as content with a special session for administration. Please grab a colleague and join us from 8am - 3pm, coffee, refreshments, and lunch are included. |
